Overwatch 2 Invasion: My Epic Trophy Hunt in a Replayability Desert

Overwatch 2 Invasion story missions lack replay value and achievements, leaving trophy hunters longing for rewarding PvE challenges.

I've spent countless hours diving into Overwatch 2's Invasion story missions, and boy oh boy, let me tell you - it's like being served a gourmet appetizer but never getting the main course! The character development for Reinhardt and Sojourn? Chef's kiss. The fresh dialogue? Absolutely delicious. But the missions themselves? They're shorter than my patience when matched with five DPS players who refuse to switch heroes!

The Achievement Wasteland

Here we are in 2026, and the most glaring issue with these missions continues to haunt me like Reaper in the backline - there's virtually no reason to replay them! And don't even get me started on the criminal lack of PlayStation Trophies and Xbox Achievements.

Blizzard has historically added achievements for each new hero, unlocking those sweet Pixel and Cute sprays when completed. One easy challenge, one that makes you want to throw your controller through the wall - perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

But the PvE missions?

Crickets.

...

Nothing but tumbleweeds and empty achievement slots.

What Could Have Been

The Invasion update was the PERFECT opportunity to introduce dozens of juicy achievements. Imagine trophies for:

  • Knocking 15 enemies off the airship in Rio in a single run 🏆

  • Completing all three missions on Expert difficulty without dying 🔥

  • Setting up Torbjörn's turrets to eliminate 30 enemies in one Gothenburg run 🛠️

  • Speed-running through missions under impossible time limits ⏱️

Even our newest support hero Illari is sitting there without her achievement set, despite having in-game spray challenges! It's like Blizzard forgot to invite achievements to the party, and they're standing outside in the rain looking through the window at all the fun we're having.

My Trophy Hunter's Heart is Breaking

I've spent countless nights grinding for that sweet 100% completion, only to find that Overwatch 2's PvE content refuses to acknowledge my dedication. The in-game challenges that reward sprays and charms are fine and dandy, but they don't give me that dopamine hit like seeing a Trophy pop or hearing that sweet achievement notification sound.

Let's be real - not everyone cares about collecting sprays that they'll never use. But that platinum trophy? That increased gamerscore? That's the real endgame, baby!

Hope for the Future?

As a hardcore achievement hunter and Overwatch addict, I'm holding out hope that the next batch of missions in 2026 will learn from these mistakes. The upcoming Zenyatta mission has the potential to fix this glaring PvE problem.

Here's my wishlist for future PvE achievements:

  1. Difficulty-based achievements - Give me something to strive for!

  2. Character-specific challenges - Make me master heroes in PvE contexts

  3. Easter egg hunts - Hide secrets that reward the most dedicated players

  4. Speed-running goals - Challenge us to optimize our strategies

The Waiting Game

So here I am, still logging in daily, still hoping that one day I'll get that notification: "Overwatch 2 has added new achievements!" Until then, I'll be here, grinding away at the same missions, pretending there's more reason to play them than there actually is.

Because at the end of the day, I'm an achievement hunter trapped in a replayability desert, desperately searching for that next trophy oasis.

What about you fellow gamers? Are you also starving for more meaningful rewards from these PvE missions? Or am I just a trophy-obsessed lunatic screaming into the void?

Either way, I'll see you on the battlefield - or more likely, replaying the same three missions for the hundredth time, hoping Blizzard notices my dedication and throws me an achievement bone. A player can dream, can't they?
